Think for a second...

Your heartburn has been kicking in as of late. It's been an on and off thing with you for most of your life, and you may or may not have already taken the trip to the pharmacy to pick up some antacid tablets. Regardless of how much relief you get temporarily, you'd rather just be able to avoid having any acid reflux or heartburn in the first place.

Is it your diet? Do you need to start exercising more or sleep at an incline? Have you been getting this acid reflux because of a more serious health issue that you aren't aware of? I really can't tell you for sure, but I can share with you some of the easiest ways to deal with acid reflux. From natural remedies to simple changes in diet or lifestyle, I've learned enough about it all in my own experiences to provide some insights that you can employ to end your acid reflux and heartburn forever.

Exactly What Causes Reflux and Heartburn? Acid reflux consists of stomach acids, food and drink being regurgitated out of your stomach and up into your esophagus, sometimes even your throat in severe cases. A little-known fact about this common ailment is that it is very commonly caused by a lack of acids in your stomach, not an excessive amount.

Without enough hydrochloric acid in your stomach, the things that you eat cannot be digested properly. These foods and drinks sit in your stomach dissolving very slowly, unable to continue to the next stage of digestion. This slow type of digestion that happens when your stomach is low on acid leads to a ton of gas build-up. This gas travels upwards, bringing along with it food, drink, and even small amounts of your stomach acid.

Interestingly enough, "antacids" and most other prescription drugs for acid reflux or heartburn weaken or dilute the acidity in your stomach. You might not feel any pain for a while, but this is really just making the problem worse over time. If you ask me, I would suggest that you avoid letting your doctor give you anything for your acid reflux woes unless you have tried absolutely everything else I am about to go over.

What to Do

Diet

Your diet is the first thing that you should look at. Avoid overly spicy or salty foods when possible. Choose lean cuts of meat and try to avoid using pepper or any seasoning that you find to contribute to your reflux. Really, the best way to develop a healthy, anti-heartburn diet for yourself is to get to know your own body and discover what foods seem to trigger it. A good way of doing this is to keep a log of what you eat and note every time you feel your heartburn kick in.

Eating late at night or laying down flat after you eat is another great way to stir up some painful, burning heartburn. Do everything you can to avoid this.

Improving Digestion

As previously mentioned, your digestive system is what primarily causes the feelings of heartburn. A natural remedy known as Stops Acid Reflux uses apple cider vinegar mixed with a few other natural ingredients to actually add a certain type of acidity to your stomach. As a matter of fact, this is the only remedy for acid reflux out there that can say it'll work in just 60 seconds. It truly boggles my mind when I think about how relatively unknown this product is when compared to other stuff out there that doesn't work half as well.

This remedy is the perfect answer for people who need the pain and discomfort to stop now, but it is a very good idea to also make a few changes to your daily habits. Not only will it make the acid reflux roll around less often, you'll simply feel better and look better.

Exercise

You may want to consider going out for a walk every morning or afternoon. Taking a 30 minute walk after eating dinner usually helps a bit if you get nighttime acid reflux, and just about any exercise at all will improve your body's ability to keep heartburn from happening on its own.

Changes to Lifestyle

Messing up your health by smoking cigarettes is not something that you should be surprised about, and it may very well be the smoking to blame again if you are having acid reflux that you can't get rid of. Some brands of cigarettes will likely cause more severe heartburn, so you may consider changing brands if you are not going to quit or cut back.

It may take you some time to get your health totally under control, heartburn and acid reflux included, but using a natural remedy like the one mentioned above to deal with the pain is exponentially smarter than adding fuel to the flames with unhealthy prescription drugs. This is the best bit of advice that I can give to anyone dealing with this terrible problem.

**You can even use the Stops Acid Reflux product when you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
