This Year, Why Not Try A Staycation? | Top Travel Cover

Article by Kristine Bell

More and more people are turning to staycations as a way to take time off and to relax. You may not know what a staycation is or what you even do on one but we?re here to help. You may be surprised to learn that staycations can be just as much fun as a regular vacation. Keep reading to find out more.

What is a staycation? Though the term is actually a new buzz word, chances are you already know what a staycation actually is. It is a vacation that you take at home. Some people elect to use their accrued sick time and take a day off here and there to get things done around the home. But with a staycation you use it just as you would a vacation. You can do household repairs but many people just hang out at home relaxing. They make time to do actually nothing of importance besides relax. You do not have to worry about traveling or hotels. You stay at home.

What can I do on my staycation? Granted, there are some things done on a vacation that you cannot do on a staycation. For example: the beach. Typically if you went to the beach during your vacation but there is not one locally to you, you may not be able to go. But anything else you can probably do. You can order food in just as you would room service. You can sleep late. You can tour local hotspots. You can even catch up on chores if you wish. It is your staycation so you can do whatever it is you wish.

How can I make my staycation with my significant other special? If you think that a staycation and romance do not go hand in hand then you are crazy. You can definitely make your staycation romantic and special for your significant other. Let?s review some of the facts. First you are spending time with him or her alone. Second you have more time to spend with your significant other. Third you are not spending money on a fancy hotel room so you can invest it in your relationship. Buy some candles and cook a fantastic meal. Then put in your favorite music and just dance. You can lay out a blanket under the stars and simply lay back and talk. The idea is that you now have extra time and money to spend on your significant other and actually time is the more important of those two.

What is the difference between a day off from work and a staycation? There really is no difference between a day off from work and a staycation except in the amount of days. If you are sick for a week and miss a week?s worth of work then your departure from work was unexpected. Chances are you have a mound of work piled up waiting for you and a boss that is not that understanding. And you took those days off because you were not feeling well. With a staycation you have cleared the time off in advance because you are treating it just like a vacation. You knew when it was coming and your boss knew when you would be away. Plus hopefully you are not sick and can enjoy spending time at home.
